OhioTrader.com is part of the Trader Websites network operated by Electronic Creations Corporation. This page describes what we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. It is written for this classifieds service. It is not a substitute for legal advice.
What We Collect
- Account details you type in: name, email address, and a hashed password. We do not store your password in plain text. The name on the account is shown on your live ads as the seller name, with a Seller number. We also store the IP address used when the account is created, to investigate spam and scam accounts.
- Listing details: title, category, city, price, description, optional phone number, and photos you upload. City names may be matched to a state city list so spelling stays consistent.
- Payment records for published ads: amount, status, and Stripe session or payment identifiers. Card numbers are handled by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on this server.
- Buyer messages sent with Contact Seller: the buyer’s name, message, and an email address, a phone number, or both. If a phone number is given, we also store whether texting is OK. Those notes are stored with the listing and emailed to the seller. The seller’s email address is not shown on the public ad.
- Messages you send through Contact Us.
- Basic technical data such as your IP address, browser, and pages requested, which the host may log for security and operations.
Cookies and Sign-in
We use a session cookie so the site can keep you signed in while you post or manage ads. That cookie is necessary for the account features to work. We do not use it to follow you across unrelated websites.
How We Use the Information
- To create and maintain your account.
- To publish, display, and expire classified ads.
- To take the listing fee through Stripe and keep a record of payment.
- To deliver Email Seller notes to the seller and keep a copy in My Account.
- To answer a Contact Us message.
- To protect the site against abuse, spam, and fraud.
Who Else Sees It
Live ads are public. That includes the title, description, city, price, photos, posted date, seller name, Seller number, and any phone number you put on the ad. Do not put a Social Security number, a full card number, or other sensitive data in an ad.
We use Stripe to process listing fees. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to payment data you enter on Checkout. Hosting and email for this site run on the Electronic Creations account that also hosts the other Trader, auto, and pet sites.
Product cards on thin pages link to Amazon. If you click one, Amazon receives that visit and may use its own cookies. Those clicks use this site’s Amazon Associates tracking ID so we can be paid on qualifying purchases. Amazon’s privacy policy applies on Amazon’s site.
We do not sell your email list.
How Long We Keep It
Accounts and listing records stay until you delete the account or we remove content that violates the terms. You can delete the account from My Account. That removes the account, its ads, photos, and buyer messages from this site. It cannot be undone. Stripe keeps its own record of any listing fee that was charged. Expired ads remain until you delete them, renew them, or delete the account. Server logs rotate on the host’s normal schedule.
Your Choices
You can update your name and email from My Account. You can delete the account from My Account. Deleting it removes the account and the ads, photos, and buyer messages tied to it on this site.
Children
This site is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account or post an ad. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date at the top of this page.
